Advent is a sacred season of waiting, hope, and anticipation. It is a time to pause and reflect on the gift of God’s presence in our lives and to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. Traditionally, Advent invites us to journey inward examining our lives, our relationships, and the ways we can be more fully aligned with God’s love.
The Advent wreath is a symbol of hope, life, and God’s eternal love. Its circle of evergreen branches reminds us of the unending presence of God. Each week, we light a candle representing hope, peace, joy, and love to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ. The wreath helps our congregation focus on the spiritual meaning of Advent and the light Christ brings into the world.

A Service of Nine Lessons and Carols began in King’s College, Cambridge, England in 1918 and is now celebrated worldwide. The service features readings from both the Old and New Testaments that in some way foretell the coming of Christ. Readings alternate with beloved hymns, and special Advent works for organ and choir.
