Each month Hope Food Pantry supports hundreds of our neighbors offering shelf stable foods, milk, meats, breads, produce, and personal care items. Quality foods support a healthy community. Gardens for Hope will provide Hope Food Pantry additional produce during the local growing season.
Gardens for Hope will kick-off May 29, 2002.
Look for the small garden right here at St Lawrence and consider planting an extra pot or row of veggies at home. Produce will be collected weekly and offered to guests of the Hope Food Panty. All vegetables and herbs are appreciated. If you’re looking for ideas; cherry tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers, kale, chard, zucchini, green beans, cucumbers, parsley, and cilantro are easy to grow and produce a lot of great food.
If you started seeds to offer plants for our gardeners, they can be hardened off now. Expose indoor seedlings to a little bit of outdoor weather. Protect them from direct sunlight at first, but each day offer them brighter light and longer stretches outside. Soon your indoor seedlings will be outdoor plants ready to grow for Hope. (Seedlings and other starter plants can be brought to St Lawrence and distributed to other gardeners on 5/29/22)
