It’s time to divide those perennials and offer them a new home. If you have plants to share. If you’re looking to build a garden or add something new. If you are just curious. This is for you. Gardeners and non-gardeners alike — all are welcome!
What:
An opportunity to share some of those plants you love. An opportunity to add to your garden. An opportunity for community and creation care.
When:
Plant drop off Saturday, May 4th or Sunday, May 5th (before 9:00am).
Plant pick up May 5th 10:00am - 12:00pm.
Where:
The rear courtyard at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, 125 West Church St., Libertyville, IL 60048.
How:
To give away plants - place the plants in disposable pots or plastic bags. Re-used grocery bags are just fine. If you know what kind of plant it is, please label the container or tuck in a note. Bring the plants to St. Lawrence May 4th or May 5th (before 9:00am) and leave them in the courtyard to the west of the rear doors.
To find new plants - visit St. Lawrence May 5th 10:00am - 12:00pm. See what we have and take what you like.
Why:
It's a great excuse to poke around in the garden, visit with friends new and old, and offer a little bit of care for creation.
Bonus:
Stop by to learn about garden care, native plants, pollinators, rain gardens, invasive plants, and more.
Questions:
Can I come for new plants if I don't have any to offer? YES!
Can I bring plants, but not take any? Certainly.
Can I invite friends and neighbors? Yes. All are welcome.
Is there a cost for plants? Absolutely not.
What kind of plants will you have? We don't know. There will be a good "starter" set and others to add to the mix. Imagine a treasure hunt.
I don't have a yard. Are any plants container friendly? Most plants can be grown in containers. They may or may not not make it through the winter, but you can enjoy them while they last.
What happens if it rains? The plants don't mind and neither do we. Please stop by. (Severe weather updates will be noted here.)
